Rowcroft Hospice

Join TEAM Rowcroft to help celebrate 40 years of our fantastic care in the south Devon community. You can help Rowcroft to make every moment the best it can be for patients with life limiting illnesses across South Devon. By running in TEAM Rowcroft, you can support our nurses, doctors and healthcare professionals to provide the very best patient-centred compassionate care to over 2,000 patients each year. Your support will mean that we can be there at patients’ sides either in their own homes or in our Inpatient Unit in Torquay. You can make all the difference.

To find out more, visit www.rowcrofthospice.org.uk , or to let us know that you would like to run for us, please email alison.upton@rowcrofthospice.org.uk or call Ali on 01803 210835.

Kellie Bishop (pictured) is joining Team Rowcroft and running the half marathon for the second time.

“I’m running the Torbay Half Marathon for Rowcroft because they took such care of my Nan during her last few days. After my Nan was diagnosed with cancer she went downhill rapidly. She wanted to stay at home, surrounded by her family, and the amazing Rowcroft At Home Team made this possible. They provided the physical objects we needed to care for her but alongside that they provided the most fantastic emotional support, not only to my Nan but to all the family. They were there to help every step of the way, helping to keep my Nan’s wish to stay at home. We could not have done it without their support and for that our family is very grateful. Running the half marathon for Rowcroft is a small way to raise much needed funds for the hospice and help to ensure other families can receive the same level of care and support our family received.”

Devon Partnership NHS Trust Charity

Our Charity at the Devon Partnership NHS Trust makes a difference to the people we care for and provides a platform which encourages recovery, wellbeing and draws closer links to the community. Donations will enable us to provide above and beyond what the NHS is able to fund. This could be a therapy session which stimulates memories, the increased capacity of a vital service, or the transformation of a space which allows our patients to thrive. With these funds we can help to inspire hope for the future, provide ways to discover new opportunities and enable people to pursue personal goals and ambitions by providing additional facilities and opportunities not otherwise available to Devon Partnership NHS Trust.

Torbay Holiday Helpers Network (THHN)

One moment you’re a happy family watching your beautiful children growing up in front of you; the next one of them is diagnosed with an illness from which they may never recover. You or your partner - or both of you - have to give up work to care for your sick child. As a result, money gets tight and you are forced to carry a terrible burden of worry which you can never put down. But you have to carry on being brave for the kids.

It’s your worst nightmare. Sadly, for some families it’s a cruel reality. But Torbay Holiday Helpers Network (THHN) can play a small part in making these families’ lives a little bit more bearable.
How? THHN offers free action packed holidays, meals out, days out and other treats to families who have seriously ill or bereaved children, families who have a terminally ill parent and to families who have lost a parent.

What THHN offers is not going to cure any illness or change any situation. But what it does do is offer them a positive distraction and a chance to temporarily escape the nightmares that they sadly call reality, and give them memories that they will treasure forever that will help carry them through the very dark days that may lay ahead. Because sadly for some families it has been their last holiday as a complete family.

We invite you to join our team - run for THHN and be a "Memory Maker"

Children's Hospice South West

At Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) we provide care for children who are not expected to survive into adulthood. The care we offer is wide ranging; respite, emergency, palliative and end of life care. From diagnosis through to bereavement and beyond, we are there for as long as the family needs us.

We are delighted to be involved with this year’s Torbay Half Marathon so that we can raise valuable awareness and funds every penny raised in sponsorship lets our skilled, qualified and totally committed staff make more precious memories for children with a life-limiting illness in the South West.

We are so grateful to all of our runners and supporters at the Torbay Half Marathon, and when you cross the finish line on the 27th September we hope you'll feel like a champion in more ways than one.

It would be fantastic if you were able to support our wonderful charity by running the Torbay Half Marathon. We have some charity places available, but if you’ve already secured your place you can still run for us!
